CoBI in Action  October 2019

Thank you for your ongoing interest in and support of CoBI.  We couldn’t do it without all of you!!

2019 has been a busy year for CoBI and we are thrilled with everything that has been accomplished so far!

  • Most importantly, our Grant Program provided both dollars and ideas to a number of innovative programs throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding states.  We also provided funds to many of the small support groups which are pivotal in helping survivors and families feel a sense of community as they navigate this challenging brain injury journey.

  • Our Clinical Forums topics have been current (and even a little controversial) with good attendance from area professionals.   “Compassion Fatigue in Brain Injury Rehab” was a great Clinical Forum that presented this month!

  • The 2019 Annual Conference in Pittsburgh was successful and we are happy to continue to bring this important professional educational forum to Western Pennsylvania.  We could not do this without our sponsors and volunteers and are well into the planning the 2020 conference (which promises a stellar group of speakers and topics). SAVE THE DATE - APRIL 21, 2020.

  • The 10th Annual Tribute Trek held on May 18th included over 50 “Trekkers!”  This year’s event was even more special with Nancy, Josh and Melissa Strauss joining us as we honor David and raise funds for the David L. Strauss Memorial Scholarship Fund.  A huge thank you to Todd Clark and Marlene Rivera who organize this event each year and made sure 2019 went off without a hitch!

  • ReDiscoverU has lots going on and continues to grow with a steady group of students and presenters.  The topics are current and creative and we are proud to have extended this important opportunity to both Pittsburgh and Erie, PA.

  • Our big event of the year, David’s Drive, was (slightly) smaller in scale  this year but a huge hit with our faithful sponsors and golfers.  Of course, it’s helpful when the weather cooperates, which it did this year. The All Ability Golf Clinic was equally successful and a good time was had by all!
