Recreational Therapy: Implications for Life Care Planning after Brain Injury

To support health promotion, prevention of secondary conditions, and quality of life, consideration should be given to Recreational Therapy (RT) in life care plans. Recreational Therapy is a treatment service that “restores or rehabilitates the person’s level of functioning and independence through the use of leisure and recreational interventions.” Recreational Therapy (RT) can contribute to positive outcomes for individuals with various chronic health conditions such as Brain Injury. This session will consider the steps for integrating recreational therapy into the life care plan for individuals with BI. Specific case studies will be described and discussed.
